Tusker Project Fame- Letter to Linda, The Aftermath
Dear Linda,
I remember the first time that we kissed. Though my very first one as a teen was a messy affair, I discovered a different form of bliss with you as you sang ‘Lady Marmalade’. It wasn’t just your voice but the classic style and passionate twist that you added to it. I was left wondering why they hadn’t noticed you before. Within no time, your name was on everybody’s mouth. Our secret love affair had ended. You remained faithful in the midst all the pomp and show in your new queenly status. Although there were tough times when you almost lost your voice towards the end of our relationship, you still whispered to me from the deepest parts of your soul.
In the beginning, most of our detractors spread rumors to break our love but our combination was lethal enough to shoot them down. We were voted as the best couple on several occasions. The Brangelina or Bennifer duos could not match up to our levels of young distraction. Your Marmalade performance is still vivid in my mind. You wore a simple black body hugging dress that was patterned to accentuate your beautiful curves. Your eyes shone with the strength of a child learning her first steps. You moved with the gentle power of a sea breeze and emanated a sweet saltiness that boiled in my veins.
Renee dared to cross your path but you handled it bravely and later went on to reconcile with her. Even Ian could not extinguish the flame that you lit in your live performances. You had previously told me that you had been a straight talker with a bad attitude. During your stay with me, I saw your directness but you skewed from the bad attitude that you had before we met. It was a sign of growth that made me want to change.
In time, they tried and tested you and you left them by them wayside. Our love was being moulded on a strong frame and I promised to prop your dreams until they came to reality. The final hour came, dripping sand cautiously through the mystic neck of the hourglass. Alvan, Valerie and Cedric tore through with the best of the best. Alvan gave you a run for your money and Valerie emerged from her cherry tinged shadows to grab the spotlight but you still broke off the pack. Everyone knew that you had it. I was so confident that my support seemed unnecessary. I embraced your victory as my dream and failed to support you thus forgetting that it was you who lived it. I may blame Pricewaterhouse Cooper’s tally or Gallo Record’s want for a controllable candidate but it’s no use. I know sorry won’t be enough for not actually voting.
As controversial as the ending was, you celebrated with Valerie. I still cannot believe that after everyone’s support previously, it flipped on us. But you were strong and said it’s not your last. Even though we broke up, you promised to be back again, maybe not as lovers but as friends. You’ll always have that special piece of me I am ready to do more now.
be strong i was always a Linda fan up until i heard valerie do that Kelly Clarkson song..to some point i think that is where linda lost her fans coz valerie ripped that song apart
and then Linda’s voice didnt go well with another clarkson song that she did and what hurt her ost was having Valerie do her backup and the contrast was too clear
all the same Linda has ,more Star potential than Valerie ..but Valerie was the better of the two
i will never get satisfied with valerie’s win for real she did not deserve it even she knew it.when she was asked why should the audience vote for her she said “if you like val vote for her”.
its not that i hate val or i have issues with her but talking the truth she cant beat alvan or linda.
looking at her performance she could not bring out african songs very well, she could only do western songs and even not all but people like linda and alvan could bring out western and african songs very well.
we were looking for a person to represent Africa atleast it could be a person who can sing african songs.
infact i was surprised when it was announced that linda was the 2nd runners up, then more surprises came when val was announced the winner you could even see it from her eyes she knew she did not deserve the win.
it was unfair for those students to have spent a whole 6 weeks in the academy then be corned i believe alvan and linda were corned their prices, time and energy. but all in all they can still proove them wrong they have got the talent and already superstars, i believe they can deliver something that the whole of East African will be proud of.
alvan and linda has so many funs it was seen during their performance at carnivore
there is also this votin and elimination issue this was a total dissapointment to us the audience. i believe judges could have been the best to choose who to go or remain this is because they know what to look for. the audience they will go by how much you are known, your goodlooks and not your talent people from poor families could not have survived because their families can not afford to vote. this is also one of the reason that reduced chances of survival for students from Uganda and Tanzania.

I loved Alvan. I would ask him for a hand in marriage anytime. I wont wait for him to do so. He is just too cute. Cuter than all men I have ever met. He too has a godly heart despite his weird behavior (proud)
I loved that contact lensed teacher Hellen Akoth. She knows her stuff. She is a replica of a true African woman. I used to watch the programe just to admire her eyes and watch her stunts. I love her I lover her I love her. Hellen where are you please be mine! Today.
honestly, i agree with the letter to linda from TPF.
personally i was very keen on linda(she has abity to turn things around-this plays a major role on her music),and a big fan of valerie, the girl has a voice that is spontaneous making it an advantage over all the rest even alvan. others might be of the opinion that her voice is average,to me its experiencing her own control where necessary; she thinks as she sings,she’s true to her soul therefore her sound explains what she means of the song.And yes she is controllable,very well behaved essential attributes in a musical career.she has so much to learn,i could see she knew that, and is eager to learn so much.i only wish her whats best.
Linda had a nasty and sensual feel for the whole project.she then put bits & pieces of both when sounding which pulled her from the rest; same ol’ phrase,she could have taken the crown home.
Alvan reminded me that i hadnt bn to church for a while. his voice was different from his sound sometimes,yet he managed to convince us of his ability all through.

When David first hit that guitar I knew he could do it, but his behaviour in the academy has put down his performance. As for Wendy I liked you too but the hullabaloo in the academy in the name of making people like you…..wont work. Look at Lina’s attitude that’s what you need.
Magdalene you have the voice of course, memorable and distinct. You were told you should harness it. That is true, but I think what makes it hard for you to go through, truth be told is your movement. You have a figure that you do not know how to carry around (learn how to move it). Where did Regina Re’ go. She is missing. In fact all the contestants as Winfrey put it have never been in the limelight and need someone to teach them how to be acceptable. Is to too late to send someone to teach them?
This is because as you all know the contestants have musical careers to pursue whether they win or not and this will be of help.
bui,i agree with you, Linda or Alvan deserved to win,i normally wonder what is the work of the judges if they cant choose the winner.I also think they should limit the number of time one can vote for one contestant coz one can get 1000 vote from one viewer while another gets 900 votes from 900 viewer which shows the viewers are in favour of the person who gets less votes from many people unlike the one who gets more votes but from one person.To Linda and Alvan dont give up we all know you got talent unlike the so called Val

What are those judges looking for and especially Ian?Am just wondering coz they seem to be unfair.They should use their ears and not just eyes.On 4th of May,i was really upset by their choice of probation contestants.For heaven’s sake even if a blind man was told to judge,his judgement would have been far much fair than theirs.Why was Hemedi retained!!!!!!????I wish u culd answer that question.One more thing,I dont think we need to be taught nasty English by u Ian thru the TV,hold your horses and learn to control yourself.Behave,okey!!!!!!!???????
Hey hey, teacher Hellen, principal Abura and Ian pls motivate the students to tighten their shock absorbers in order to handle the nasty comments from their judges. Comments from the judges are somehow right especially for Hemedi who fits so well for soap operas (play boy) but pls can the judges know how to unleash the comments in a more diplomatic manner. Wendy kindly uphold your xcters and stop those idle exchange of notes with the so called Hemedi otherwise it might mess your reputation. Remember you have a reason to your going to the academy. Baibe i like your whole you plus your confidence. inspite the fact that guys dont like it when Judge Ian delivers the commets, i like the way he does it. If one hasnt done the best as per the day, he/she needs to be told the truth. Like athletes, there are times wen they are overtaken by others.
so, let the students take it with a positive attitudes as this is just for their own good

Judges should listen to the songs before the show because they can end up judging a song basing on how they think it should be not how it was sung by the original singer.Did you hear how judge Shaka judged Vicor’s song?To the students,take it positively when you are corrected accept it and be ready to change for the better.

It was very very wrong for all the other students in the academy to send Jacob home as he did not deserve it. But i know it was their fear that if he stayed he could have gone home with it. Shame on you! Its a talent search thing and not who becomes a millionare. We wanted an east african star! The truth is Jacob is better than Lina, Victor, Hemedi, Wendy and even Felly.
i really really mis JACOB from Uganda. he was my choice 4 the project fame winner. Tusker project fame may become a failure coz we kenyans are too partisan. its a disgrace that victor is still in the house despite poor vocal capability while Jacob is already in UG. If any kenyan win then it will be the biggest flop of all reality shows.
Next time it should be held in another country.
It is true kenyans are partisan, i wonder what they are still doing in the academy. it was so painful to send Jacob at home, then what are we looking for. if the winner will be determined by the public then am sorry the real talented one like steve and esther will not win. kenyans will vote for their own no matter what it takes. the judges should decide and this time the winner should be a ugandan steve or esther if not no need of having the TPF.

To those who loved hellen, I will say that she is a gift to Kenya. She is one gal who never brags, who is down to earth, and will never show off like some celebs we have in this world. I love that attitude and the way she handled the students. I love the way she used to tell IAN the judge off. I only suspect that there must have been a judge who loved her too.
